Um, so yeah. For the 4th of July, we helped out with the pancake breakfast, then went home, and um... stayed home... and it was nice. So, that's what we did. And two days ago, I went to the dentist. Everything is good. Mostly. Andrew has to go bad sometime because a tooth chipped. Yeah, not so fun. And um... That's it. Aren't you glad you came here? Well you shouldn't because you spent five minutes doing nothing. Absolutely nothing. Well, I'm going now. There's nothing interesting here. Nothing. Are you even listening to me? NOTHING. *walks off*

Pismo Beach sets off Fireworks from their pier each year (the pier seems to be the center for most big events in the Five Cities area). We went up the coast to a park that has a view ov the pier. We brought sweatshirts and jackets to protect from cold costal breezes. When we arrived at the park, there was already a show underway - a apparently the driver of a fire engine misjudged the edge of the road when he attempted to pull off to the side (to monitor fireworks in the park?). When we arrived the truck looked like it could easily roll down the side of the hill into the park's parking lot. Eventually a heavy duty tow truck arrived to lift the engine back onto the pavement with a wench. By the time the fire truck scene was over we had set up our picnic dinner and noticed that fog was rolling in obscuring our view of the pier. By the time we were done eating, the fog was so thick that we couldn't see much beyond the far side of the park - so we packed up and went home. After it got dark, we drove around town for about an hour watching people set off all kinds of fireworks (safe and sane and otherwize). The neatest thing we saw was a group of neighbors who marked off their display area in the street with red LEDs that spun continuously. It was interesting seeing arieal fireworks go up into the fog where the burst of stars was partially concealed.
